2 AM

ND vs. Navy

It's almost 2 in the morning, and I'm not entirely sure why I'm still up. I'm surrounded by an ungodly amount of couples who are subjected to adjourning in the common's room because of parietals. 2 AM is what all the Pangborn (my dorm's name) girls call the "couple's hour". Really, shouldn't these people be getting some sleep? I see the usual couples along with a couple of new ones.

I really would rather be sleeping than observing all the couples in the room..I guess all those afternoon "power" naps aren't working out entirely well for the sleep I should be getting at night. I'm also not really sure why I'm starting up a blog again after who knows how long. I've noticed that my blogs usually fail: xanga, previous blogs, they all just sort of mesh together and end up never being written in again. I think it's a good idea to try and put my thoughts down somehow though, so that maybe at the end of college (if 2012 doesn't happen) I'll be able to look back at how I was as a freshman compared to how I'll be as a sophomore, junior, or senior.
Hmm..college..Well, the past three months have definitely been..interesting? College feels so different, yet the same as high school. Is that a bad or good thing? I definitely feel a bit more independent just because I'm away from home (and having to do my own laundry definitely adds to the independence factor). I'm not going to lie though..I've been feeling super homesick the past week or so. I miss my bed, my parents, and old friends. Overall, Notre Dame has been alright. There've been highs and lows, and I'm sure it'll be like that for awhile.

Things I like about ND:
1. the FOOD - Seriously, you guys are missing out.
2. the campus scenery - It's pretty (?) and all my classes are in the same building.
3. football - I didn't know a single thing about football until I came here.
4. the people - Everyone here is really nice.
5. the education - I feel like professors actually give two shits about their students. ND also has a ton of opportunities for business majors.

Things that I'm iffy about:
1. parietals - C'mon, seriously?
2. single sex dorms - It's nice at times, but there's way too much estrogen in the air around the girl dorms.
3. the campus... - Even though the campus is pretty, I seriously feel like I'm trapped in a bubble everytime I'm here.
4. the lack of diversity - The rumors aren't really rumors, the ND student population is pretty homogeneous.
5. gender relations - Gender relations here are HORRIBLE.
6. party atmosphere - Okay, I'm not going to lie. The parties here kind of suck.

So yeah, I guess that's my overall view of Notre Dame. I guess I'm still having a hard time adjusting to it. That might also be because of my lack of participation in clubs..which I'm definitely going to try and fix by the end of this semester. Thanksgiving break is finally rolling around in less than two weeks! Life is going to be hell until then though. My professors are piling a crapload of midterms on us. :( Hello sleep deprivation, goodbye good night's rest.
